Allett 20" QC Verticut Cartridge Description
The 20" Verticutter cartridge is a popular Allett cartridge.
Thin and closely spaced blades elevate lateral growth and eliminate moss, promoting tillering and new growth. The Verticut cartridge's blades assist in picking up flat-lying grasses that your cylinder might otherwise miss.
Verticutting can be done more frequently and is an excellent technique to maintain your thatch level in between scarifications. A modest amount of thatch can be beneficial to your lawn, but anything more than half an inch should be eliminated since it hampers healthy growth. The verticut cartridge often eliminates twice as much material as the scarifier cartridge.
The objectives of verticutting-
To improve tillering and stolon formation, trim the grasses. This enhances the density of the turf.
To keep thatch under control. The verticut cartridge blades are intended for usage above the thatch layer in order to eliminate dead and dying grass plants that will eventually contribute to the thatch layer.
To achieve an upright grass before mowing in order to achieve a better, more consistent cut.
As a method of weed and weed grass control that does not involve the use of toxic substances
Verticutting will also aid in the removal of annual meadow grass seed heads and the promotion of finer grasses like bent and fescue.
We have a homeowner line of cylinder mowers that accept interchangeable cartridges, including the verticut cartridge. This cartridge can replace the cutting cylinder in under two minutes.
From April to September, use the cartridge every two weeks or so to keep on top of thatch and lateral laying grasses.
Begin with setting four and gradually reduce- the cartridge should not be piercing the soil as this may damage your blades. The blades should be touching the thatch layer and above. You'll be surprised at how much this cartridge extracts from your lawn.
