Allett 17" QC Verticut Cartridge Description

The Allett 17-inch Verticutter cartridge is a popular cartridge.

Thin, closely spaced blades effectively lift lateral growth and eliminate moss, thereby promoting tillering and new growth. The blades of the Verticut cartridge help your cylinder collect flat-lying grasses that it would otherwise overlook.

Verticutting can be performed more frequently and is the ideal method to maintain a low thatch level between annual scarifications. A small quantity of thatch can be beneficial to your lawn, but anything greater than half an inch must be removed because it inhibits healthy growth. In general, the verticut cartridge is twice as efficient as the scarifier cartridge.

The goals of vertical slicing-

To prune grasses in order to enhance tillering and stolon formation. This enhances grass density
To manage thatch. The verticut cartridge blades are intended for use above the thatch layer in order to remove deceased and dying grass plants that will ultimately contribute to the thatch layer.
To erect vegetation prior to mowing in order to achieve a cleaner, more consistent cut.
As a method for weed and weed grass control without the use of hazardous chemicals
In addition to removing annual meadow grass seed heads, verticutting encourages finer grasses, such as bent and fescue.
We offer a variety of homeowner cylinder mowers with interchangeable cartridges, including the verticut cartridge. This cartridge can be used to replace the cutting cylinder in under two minutes.

Use the cartridge approximately every two weeks from April to September to control thatch and lateral-lying grasses.

The cartridge should not penetrate the soil, as this will cause injury to the blades. The blades should be reaching the thatch layer and higher. You will be astounded by how much grass this cartridge removes from your lawn.
